How to Visit Etna Urban Wineryfrom Catania
Planning a wine experience near Catania but don’t have a car? Good news: getting to Etna Urban Winery is easier than you might think. Located just outside the city, our family-run winery is one of the closest wineries to Catania city centre, making it an easy addition to your Sicilian itinerary.
Whether you prefer to arrive by shuttle, taxi, public transport or car, here is everything you need to know before your visit.
How far is Etna Urban Winery from Catania?
Etna Urban Winery is approximately 10-15 minutes by car from Catania city centre, depending on traffic.
The winery is located in San Gregorio di Catania, on the southern slopes of Mount Etna, surrounded by vineyards and greenery while still being conveniently close to the city.
Shuttle from Catania: the easiest option
If you want a simple, stress-free way to reach the winery, our shuttle service from Catania is a great option.
The shuttle is available for experiences and normally operates from March to October, subject to availability during the low season. Pick-up and drop-off are at Piazza Stesicoro in central Catania, in front of McDonald’s.
The shuttle is available for 21€ per adult and can be added when booking your experience.
Taxi or Uber
Taking a taxi or Uber is another option, especially if you are travelling as a couple, family or small group.
Simply enter “Etna Urban Winery” as your destination in Uber.
If Uber is not available, you can pre-book a local taxi and request a quote before travelling.
The winery estimates a one-way taxi fare from Catania at around €30–35, although the final price can vary depending on the exact pick-up point and traffic and time.
The travel time is approximately 10-15 minutes from central Catania.
Visiting by Bus
The bus is also an option when travelling to us. Two different routes depend on where you are staying in Catania.
The AST bus connects Catania with San Giovanni La Punta. Buses leave from near Catania Centrale railway station and reach San Giovanni La Punta in approximately 30 minutes. The bus stops also on Via Etnea, 8- 15 minutes later. From the main square in San Giovanni La Punta, it is around a 20-minute walk to the winery.
Because bus timetables can change, we recommend checking the current AST timetable before your visit and planning your return journey.
The second option is travelling with the AMTS bus services. From Catania, you can take the bus 244, close to the metro station Giuffrida and then exit the bus in San Gregorio. From there, it is a 15-minute walk to the winery.
To check with bus is suitable for your experience, we recommend checking Google Maps or the AMTS Website when the bus leaves.
Coming by Car
If you have a rental car, visiting us is very straightforward.
From central Catania, the drive takes approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. There is free parking at the winery, so you don’t need to worry about finding a parking space when you arrive.
One important tip: when using navigation, search for “Etna Urban Winery” on Google Maps or Apple Maps rather than entering the street address, as this can lead you to the wrong location.
Can children visit Etna Urban Winery?
Absolutely! Children are welcome at Etna Urban Winery.
The winery has activities that make the visit enjoyable for younger guests too. Children can go on a small treasure hunt throughout the vineyard.
We offer a children’s menu in our experiences, and non-eating babies can be added free of charge.
