Urban Winery Life, Behind the Scenes
When people think of wine, they often picture rolling vineyards and countryside estates. But urban wineries tell a different story.
In the city, our own vineyard grows the grapes that become our wines. Every bottle begins here, shaped by the vineyard’s unique character. While we collaborate with trusted local winery partners during the winemaking process, everything starts with our vineyard and the grapes grown exclusively within it. This close connection allows us to share a truly authentic story, from vine to glass, right in the middle of the city.
Meet the People Behind the Experience
Every memorable winery visit begins with people.
What visitors see is only part of the story; behind every lunch service, tasting, tour, and dinner is a group of passionate individuals bringing the experience to life every day.
Rather than focusing solely on the technical side of winemaking, we celebrate the collective effort behind each bottle. Our local winery partners play an important role in supporting the production process, helping transform our grapes into wines that reflect the character of Etna and our vineyard.
A Day Through the Eyes of the Makers
One of the most rewarding aspects of urban winery life is sharing our passion with visitors. More than a place to produce wine, the winery is a space where people gather, learn, connect, and create memories.
This journey is best understood through the people who make it happen.
Lunch: Sharing Local Flavours
Michele is our 30-year-old sous-chef, and for him, our experience begins in the kitchen, where he prepares seasonal dishes inspired by Sicilian cuisine, served with wines that express the character of Etna.
Whether visitors are taking a break from exploring the city or enjoying a leisurely afternoon with friends, the goal is to create a relaxed and welcoming moment around food, wine, and conversation.
Michele says: “For me, what makes the lunch Sicilian starts with the ingredients. We use seasonal produce, local products, and recipes that are inspired by the traditions of this island. Sicilian cuisine is simple in its approach, but rich in flavour, history, and cultural influences.
Beyond the food itself, it’s also about the way we share it. In Sicily, meals are meant to bring people together around the table to talk, connect, and create memories. I hope our guests experience not only the flavours of Sicily, but also the warmth, hospitality, and sense of community that are such an important part of our culture.”
The Wine Bar: Everyday Discovery
Throughout the day, the wine bar and shop become a welcoming place for connection, conversation, and discovery.
Rachele is at the heart of that experience, helping guests explore different wines, answering questions, and sharing the stories behind each bottle. Whether visitors are passionate wine enthusiasts or tasting Etna wines for the very first time, the wine bar offers a relaxed and approachable way to experience the region.
For Rachele, however, the wine bar is about much more than wine.
“What I enjoy most is meeting people from all over the world every day and sharing experiences with them. While I talk about Etna wine, our traditions, and our history, they share a piece of their own with me through the experiences and stories of the places they come from”.
Besides the wine bar, Rachele also manages our shop, and when asked about this work, she doesn’t hesitate.
“It’s a space that represents not only our own story but also the work of many small local producers. Anyone who walks into the shop can certainly buy our wine, but they can also discover other local specialities, from olive oil to jams, from handmade ceramics to small crocheted creations.
Dinner and Tours: Bringing the Story Together
As the day transitions into evening, the experience becomes more immersive.
Guests are invited to explore the winery, learn about the vineyard, and enjoy a dinner designed to complement the wines.
With Leonardo in the kitchen and Angelo guiding visitors through the vineyard and its wines, the experience is about creating a deeper connection among people, place, food, and wine.
Rather than simply serving a meal, dinner becomes the final chapter of the journey from vineyard to glass.
Angelo says: “I want every guest to leave with a deeper appreciation and understanding of Etna wine, its typicity, its character, and how it connects with food, people, and place. For many visitors, this is their first opportunity to discover the wines of Etna, explore food pairings, and understand what makes this territory so special. More than that, I hope they enjoy a moment to slow down, share experiences with others, and connect with something local. Our urban winery offers a unique and exclusive way to experience Etna wine right in the city.”
Leonardo approaches the experience from the kitchen, where he designed each dish alongside the wines that are being poured.
“My goal is to create food that complements the wine so guests can experience the full potential of what a pairing can offer. When the right flavours come together, they reveal new dimensions in both the dish and the wine, leading to discoveries that guests may not have expected. I hope people leave the table having enjoyed great food and wine, but also with a deeper appreciation for flavour and the connections that food and wine can create.”
